How Friendly Is Every Country to Foreigners? (2026)

In this video, we show how friendly countries are toward foreigners using an animated world map. Discover which countries are considered the most welcoming to foreigners and where people may find it harder to feel accepted. Explore global differences in friendliness, social openness, and how easy it can be for foreigners to connect with local people. This video is based on publicly available international survey data measuring how foreigners experience life and social interaction in different countries. Data years and availability may vary between countries depending on the source. Friendliness is based on survey responses and does not mean that every person in a country feels or behaves the same way. Cultural differences, personal experiences, and individual circumstances can also affect how foreigners experience a country. The figures are taken from the Gallup Migrant Acceptance Index. In each country, locals were asked three simple questions: whether it is a good or bad thing if immigrants live in your country, become your neighbors, and marry into your family. The responses produce a score from 0 to 9. The higher the score, the more relaxed people are about newcomers. The goal of this video is to visualize global differences in how welcoming countries are perceived to be through a clear and engaging world map animation.
