Hijackers Take Over the Ship | The Hijacking of the Achille Lauro | Karl Malden | Full Movie In 1985, four militants of the Palestine Liberation Front hijack an Italian ocean liner, the Achille Lauro. The fate of several passengers lie in their hands, including a Jewish-American businessman. Four armed militants seize the Italian ocean liner Achille Lauro, leaving its passengers trapped at sea and at the mercy of the hijackers. Set during the 1985 hijacking, the story follows a terrifying hostage crisis in which an ordinary voyage suddenly becomes a fight for survival. With four members of the Palestine Liberation Front controlling the ship, the passengers face an increasingly dangerous situation with nowhere to escape. Among those caught aboard is a Jewish-American businessman whose fate, along with the other passengers, now rests in the hands of the hijackers. Surrounded by open water and cut off from safety, the passengers must endure the uncertainty of an armed takeover while the crisis unfolds aboard the Italian liner. The Hijacking of the Achille Lauro dramatizes the fear and tension surrounding a real-world maritime hijacking.
