Description

You would love it: www.tretayuga.in The real story of Ramayana reveals a forgotten chapter of Ravan's history. Why did Ravan's own sister Surpanakha become part of the events that led to his downfall? Discover the untold story of Ram, Ravan, Lakshman, Sita and the war of Lanka, based on the Valmiki Ramayan. As the new Ramayana movie starring Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Ram and Yash as Ravan approaches, we're going back to the original Valmiki Ramayana to explore an extraordinary chapter of this ancient Indian history. Most people know that Surpanakha approached Lord Ram during his exile, and Lakshman cut off her nose after she threatened Sita. But very few know what happened to Surpanakha before she ever met Ram. According to the Uttara Kand of Valmiki Ramayan, Ravan had killed Surpanakha's own husband, Vidyujjihva, during a battle against the Kalakeyas. Years later, Surpanakha encountered Ram in Dandakaranya. What followed was a series of events involving Khar, Dushann, an army of 14,000 rakshasas, and the destruction of Ravan's military forces in Janasthan. But the story didn't end there. Surpanakha travelled to Lanka and told Ravan about Ram's extraordinary power and Sita's beauty. Soon afterward, Ravan approached Maarich and planned Sita's abduction. Despite Maarich's warning, Ravan refused to turn back. That decision eventually led to Hanuman's journey to Lanka, the construction of Ram Setu, the great war between Ram and Ravan, the deaths of Kumbhkaran and Indrajit, and Ravan's final defeat. But was Surpanakha simply trying to avenge her humiliation, or did her tragic history with Ravan play a deeper role in these events? This video explores that possibility while separating what the original Ramayan describes from what we can only interpret. We explore the history of Lord Ram, Sita, Lakshman, Ravan, Surpanakha, Kumbhkaran, Hanuman, Vibhishan, Maarich, Khar and Dushann, and examine the family conflicts and decisions that led to the Ram-Ravan war. With Nitesh Tiwari's Ramayana Part One releasing in 2026, featuring Ranbir Kapoor, Yash, Sai Pallavi, Sunny Deol and Ravi Dubey, this is an opportunity to revisit the original Valmiki Ramayana and understand the lesser-known events behind the famous story. Scriptural references: Valmiki Ramayan, Uttara Kand, Sarga 23–24 Valmiki Ramayan, Aranya Kand, Sarga 17–52 Valmiki Ramayan, Kishkindha Kand Valmiki Ramayan, Sundar Kand Valmiki Ramayan, Yuddha Kand Topics covered: The real story of Ramayana, the history of Ravan and Surpanakha, why Lakshman cut Surpanakha's nose, Ravan's family, the death of Khar and Dushann, the abduction of Sita, Hanuman's journey to Lanka, Ram Setu, Kumbhkaran, Indrajit, and the war between Lord Ram and Ravan. The possible revenge motive discussed in this video is an interpretation of the events. The Valmiki Ramayan does not explicitly confirm that Surpanakha secretly planned Ravan's downfall.
