Manchester City Need “Siege Mentality” After Financial Verdict | Steve Pope | ZO1T

Sports psychotherapist Steve Pope spoke to Reuters about the potential psychological impact of Manchester City’s Premier League financial rules verdict and the uncertainty facing the club and its players. ⚽ Pope said Manchester City’s players should focus on football and remain united, arguing that they need to maintain dignity and self-respect regardless of what happens with the club’s appeal. He also warned that uncertainty could increase anxiety among players, particularly while much of the squad is away on international duty. Pope said clear communication and planning for different scenarios could help maintain stability and loyalty within the team. Pope, who has consulted with several Premier League clubs, including Manchester United, said a prolonged atmosphere of fear or negativity could affect confidence, training and performances. The Premier League said Manchester City used “sham” commercial contracts as part of schemes to inflate revenue and understate costs by more than £900 million over nearly a decade. Manchester City denies wrongdoing and has said it will appeal the verdict. 📍 Location: Blackpool, England 📅 Date: September 30, 2026 🎙️ Interview: Steve Pope ⚽ Subject: Manchester City and sports psychology Watch Steve Pope’s full Reuters interview on the psychological challenges facing Manchester City following the Premier League ruling. #ManchesterCity #StevePope #SportsPsychology #PremierLeague #FootballNews ______________________________________ Every Game | Every Story | Every Angle Welcome to DRM Sports, your ultimate destination for the pulse of the pitch, the court, and the track.
