In this video, Billy Ray McCoy draws on six generations of mountain wisdom from Sassafras Holler to walk through 25 ingenious borax uses that modern science has since validated. From softening hard water in the wash kettle and making homemade laundry soap, to eliminating ant colonies by targeting the queen with a weak bait solution, treating powderpost beetles in old barn sills, preserving dried flowers, and fireproofing curtains near a wood stove, these forgotten household hacks were born of necessity and refined by experience. Billy Ray also covers what not to do, including a cautionary tale about an old remedy for infant mouth sores that turned out to be genuinely dangerous. The real lesson behind all twenty-five uses is about self-reliance, knowing how one affordable, multipurpose mineral can quietly replace dozens of expensive store-bought products for laundry, pest control, gardening, leather care, and more. #homesteading #frugalliving #diy #cleaninghacks #pestcontrol #selfsufficiency #appalachia #oldfashioned #lifehacks #borax
