Step into the world of Africa's kings and queens - from ancient traditions to modern challenges, discover the untold stories of royalty shaping the continent today. Join us on an extraordinary journey across Africa as we explore the hidden lives and powerful influence of African monarchs. Austrian photographer Alfred Weidinger documents these rulers, revealing how their roles straddle the line between tradition and modernity. From Uganda’s dynamic king of Busoga, who is active on social media, to Swaziland’s (now Eswatini) absolute monarch, this documentary uncovers a side of Africa rarely seen by outsiders. Learn how these leaders balance ancient customs, such as cattle-based economies and unique matrimonial rites among the Karamojong, with the rapid encroachment of globalization and technology. Delve into Uganda’s rich history of kingdoms, the impact of colonialism, and the ongoing efforts to establish new realms among the Karamojong people. Witness how traditional authority figures are adapting to contemporary life, navigating politics, social change, and the expectations of their people. In Eswatini, see how absolute monarchy persists amidst economic hardship, lavish royal celebrations, and the struggles faced by everyday citizens. This video paints a vivid portrait of the diverse forms of leadership, cultural preservation, and transformation unfolding across the continent. #AfricanMonarchs #Uganda #Eswatini #TraditionalLeadership #AfricanCulture #Royalty #ModernAfrica #Documentary
