The pre-rendered backgrounds, the lighting, the soundtrack, the atmosphere, and even the technical limitations of the time gave the game a character that still feels special today. And out of all its locations, the R.P.D. is probably one of the most memorable. I really enjoyed what they did with the remake, but for this video I wanted to go back to the 1998 game. Visually, I tried to imagine what that version of the R.P.D. might look like in a more realistic way, while keeping the atmosphere and identity of the original. I approached the music in the same way, using Masami Ueda’s classic theme “The Front Hall” as the basis for my own arrangement, keeping its original feeling while taking it in a more atmospheric and contemplative direction. This is a fan-made musical arrangement created as a tribute.
