Description

In today's #short, we'll take a look back to 1991, when Nolan Ryan Pitched His Last No Hitter. Nothing about the night felt perfect, except the result. Pitching on short rest and battling pain throughout his body, Nolan Ryan told Rangers pitching coach Tom House that he didn’t feel right. His back hurt, his heel hurt, and he felt old. Then he added, “Watch me.” What followed would become one of the defining moments in baseball history. This Nolan Ryan documentary revisits When Nolan Ryan Threw His Last No Hitter, the unforgettable performance that delivered Nolan Ryan’s 7th no hitter—and made him the only pitcher to throw 7 no hitters in MLB history. After a slow start, Ryan settled in, overpowering the Toronto Blue Jays with a mix of fastballs and breaking pitches that showcased everything great about Nolan Ryan pitching. Backed by three early runs, Ryan took control of the game. A critical moment in the sixth inning nearly ended the bid, but an incredible defensive play kept Nolan Ryan no hitter 7 alive. As the innings passed, the strikeouts piled up until, in the ninth inning, Ryan struck out Roberto Alomar on his 122nd pitch to seal Nolan Ryan no hitter 1991, his final and most meaningful masterpiece. Ryan finished with 16 strikeouts, two walks, and at least one strikeout in every inning. It was his 7th no hitter Nolan Ryan had ever thrown, his 305th career win, and one of the greatest entries in Nolan Ryan career highlights. More than just another line in the record books of no hitters, it was a personal triumph in front of his home crowd. Part of All Sports History, this video features Nolan Ryan No Hitters, Nolan Ryan No Hitter Highlights, and the full story of how Nolan Ryan pitched his last no hitter, a moment that completed one of the greatest careers the game has ever seen.
