Description

Every August 15th, we hear a lot about patriotism, nationalism and the freedom struggle. But there is one uncomfortable question we don't ask often enough: Where was the RSS when India was fighting the British? While Gandhi led mass movements, Bhagat Singh and other revolutionaries challenged colonial rule, Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose built the INA, and millions of ordinary Indians went to prison, faced lathis, bullets and the gallows... What role did the RSS actually play in India's freedom struggle? In this episode of Brown Enlightenment, we take a sarcastic... but historically grounded... look at the RSS, the freedom movement, nationalism, the Indian Tricolour, and the strange transformation of patriotism after independence. From the Dandi March and Quit India Movement to the politics of nationalism in 2026, there's one question at the heart of this video: When the British were actually here… where was the RSS? And perhaps the bigger question: Who gets to decide who is a patriot in a free India? DISCLAIMER: This video is intended for political commentary, satire, criticism, and historical discussion. The views expressed are those of Brown Enlightenment and are presented for discussion and analysis. Historical events and political claims are discussed based on publicly available records and sources, but viewers are encouraged to read the original historical sources and form their own conclusions. Satire and rhetorical exaggeration are used for commentary and entertainment. Criticism of an organisation, ideology, political party, or public figure should not be interpreted as hatred towards its supporters or members. History belongs to all of us. Question it. Verify it. Debate it. 🇮🇳 #rss #bjp #independenceday #indianhistory #gandhi #nehru #quitindiamovement #indianflag #britishindia
