But take him out of the water, and everything turns. On dry land, the king of the river becomes the prey — and a pride of lions is waiting for exactly that. Discover the crocodile that rules the water and is hunted on the land — in this wildlife documentary. Journey to the Kafue River, in Zambia, through the eyes of Ngwena, a giant Nile crocodile who has ruled his stretch of water for fifty years. Underwater, he is unbeatable — he drags a buffalo weighing half a ton beneath the surface, and no lion would ever dare face him there. But this dry season, the water is vanishing. Witness the raw reality of survival, where the shrinking river crowds him out of the deep, where a bull hippo drives him from the last safe pool, and where he is forced to crawl across open ground — slow, exposed, and helpless — straight into a waiting pride of lions. On land, the king of the river cannot win. His only hope is to fight his way back to the one place that is his: the water. This is the story of a king whose throne is made of water — and the truth every ruler forgets. No one is a king everywhere. The strongest in one world is the weakest in another. And survival is not about being strongest — it is about knowing exactly where your strength ends.
