Description

In this video, I take you through every level of danger in space, starting with the mild threats right on our doorstep, and building all the way up to a danger that could erase reality itself. We begin with the small stuff: the swarm of space debris circling our planet, the invisible radiation that never turns off, and the deadly emptiness of the vacuum itself. Then it escalates. Solar storms that could take down our power grids, asteroid impacts like the one that killed the dinosaurs, and rogue planets drifting silently through the dark. From there it gets far worse. Nearby supernovae that could strip away our ozone, magnetars with impossible magnetic fields, and gamma-ray bursts, the most powerful explosions in the universe. And we finish with the true nightmares: wandering black holes, galaxy-devouring quasars, colliding galaxies, the slow heat death of everything, and finally vacuum decay, a danger that could already be racing toward us at the speed of light, and you would never see it coming. By the end, you'll realize the most dangerous place in the universe might be the exact spot you're standing in right now. ▶ More explainers every few days.
