Karnataka was once five separate regions, each under a different ruler. In this short we see how the Ekikarana movement, led by leaders like Aluru Venkata Rayaru, brought them together as one state.
Mysore State (the core), Bellary (1953), and in 1956 the Bombay, Hyderabad and Madras regions along with Coorg. The state was renamed Karnataka in 1973.
