Description
Life as a Knight Templar was closer to a militarized monastery than a career in warfare. Recruits needed formal family consent and passed a weeks-long investigation into their debts, motives, and family reputation before being accepted. At the admission ceremony, officials deliberately tried to talk candidates out of joining.
Once sworn in, a Templar owned no personal property, slept on a straw mat in a shared room with no privacy, followed a prayer schedule running from before dawn until after dark, ate simple meals of bread, watered wine, and vegetables only when his commander allowed, and performed menial duties like washing dishes as a discipline in humility.
Complaining, or even visible annoyance, could get a brother expelled. Military training conditioned two absolute rules by relentless repetition: never break formation, and never retreat without an order. Vows were permanent, so a knight too injured to fight was not released, he was reassigned to menial labor inside a Templar house for the rest of his life.

The order won't release you. Your brothers have everything now. And the vows you were so certain about are the walls of a prison you built yourself.

This is what it was genuinely like to be a Knight Templar, told from the inside. Not the myth. Not the treasure legends. The straw mat, the kitchen duty, and the silence.
