Description

God ordered Moses to make a bronze snake. Seven centuries later, a godly king smashed it to pieces, and Jesus still chose that same snake to explain his death in John 3:14. Here is what the Hebrew reveals about Numbers 21. In Numbers chapter twenty-one, Israel is bitten by "fiery serpents" after Aaron dies and Edom blocks the road. The people ask God to take the snakes away. He doesn't. Instead he tells Moses to make a serpent of bronze and raise it on a pole, and everyone who looks at it lives. This video walks through the Hebrew words that English Bibles flatten: nachash (serpent) and nechosheth (bronze), a wordplay you can hear out loud; saraph, the "burning one," the same word as the seraphim of Isaiah 6; nes, the "pole" that is really a banner, the word behind Jehovah-nissi and Isaiah 11's ensign for the nations; and the shift from raah (see) to hibbit (gaze), the verb Zechariah 12:10 uses for looking on the one who was pierced. We also look at why King Hezekiah destroyed the serpent and called it Nehushtan, "a piece of brass" (2 Kings 18:4); what the Wisdom of Solomon and the Mishnah said about it; the copper snake found at Timna; and the strongest objections: was it a pagan idol, and how can Christ be compared to a serpent? Then we sit with Nicodemus in John 3, where John 3:16 turns out to be the second half of a sentence about this snake. The central point: the cure was never in the bronze. It was always in the One it pointed to. 📖 KEY VERSE "And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up." — John 3:14 💬 Before today, had you ever noticed that John 3:16 comes right after the bronze serpent? Or that a king once smashed it? Tell me below. 👉 If this helped you see Christ in the book of Numbers, like the video, subscribe, tap the bell, and share it with someone who needs to read John 3 again. God bless you. #Bible #BibleStudy #BronzeSerpent #John316
