I’m Ellsworth Tidwell, and after fifty years behind a gunsmith’s bench, I’ll walk you through the cleaning habits that matter most. I cover ammunition safety, why the striker or firing pin channel must stay dry, how excess oil and sprayed solvent create problems, and where lubrication actually belongs. I also explain how to protect the muzzle crown while cleaning the barrel. Finally, I demonstrate the post-cleaning function check, including slide lock, trigger reset, safety operation, and what to do if anything does not work correctly.
