General Erwin Rommel leads hundreds of Panzers and ten thousand vehicles of the Afrika Korps charging across the Libyan Desert, around the flank of the British-held Gazala Line, aiming for the vital Allied port of Tobruk. Spearheading the attack of the 15th Panzer Division is a veteran Panzer commander, Capt. Johannes ‘The Lion of Capuzzo’ Kümmel in his Panzer III Ausf. J. Driving northward, his Panzers run straight into the Desert Rats of the British 7th Armored Division. The British M3 Stuart light tanks, led by Lt. Bill Close of the 3rd Royal Tank Regiment, are no match for the formidable Panzers. But the Allies have a trick up their sleeve - the brand new American-made M3 Grant tanks, which the Germans have never fought before. In a titanic battle under the scorching Sun, the desert becomes a tank graveyard with heavy losses on both sides. But the ‘Desert Fox’ Rommel outfoxes the British and emerges victorious.
