8 Prehistoric Animals Found Frozen That Look Like They Died Yesterday

Prehistoric animals found frozen in the Siberian permafrost provide a rare look at life from tens of thousands of years ago. We examine eight remarkable discoveries where ancient life has been captured in ice for millennia. From a perfectly intact foal with moving blood to a female brown bear and a woolly rhinoceros, these specimens offer paleontologists unprecedented access to biological tissues that are usually lost to decay. Understanding how these creatures survived and died in such extreme conditions helps us reconstruct the environments of the Pleistocene. By analyzing these preserved specimens, researchers gain critical data on species adaptation and the harsh climate shifts that shaped the ancient world.
