Natembeya Security withdrawn: He Summons IG Over Security Withdrawal After Ruto's Kininini Launch

Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya has demanded that the Inspector-General of Police explain the second withdrawal of his security detail. He cites Articles 47, 238(2)(b) and 244 of the Constitution, plus a June 2025 High Court ruling on the withdrawal of security from five governors. The timing has tongues wagging: the withdrawal came a day after President William Ruto launched the Kininini market, and Natembeya reportedly went back to relaunch it before a huge crowd. Was it routine, or a political message? This breakdown covers every detail, every constitutional argument and the questions that remain. Subscribe for more sharp Kenyan political analysis.
