Description
China has built a massive 11.325 km underwater tunnel beneath the Yangtze River, designed for high-speed trains traveling at up to 350 km/h.
This incredible China engineering project shows how modern technology can build massive railway tunnels beneath a major river. Engineers first studied the underground soil, rock layers, tunnel depth and water pressure before construction began.
A huge access shaft was prepared, heavy equipment was lowered underground, and a massive TBM (Tunnel Boring Machine) was assembled to begin the excavation.
As the TBM moved forward, its powerful Cutter Head broke through rock while a continuous Conveyor Belt carried the excavated material backward. At the same time, huge Circular Concrete Segments were installed behind the machine to create the strong tunnel lining.
These massive concrete segments were manufactured in a specialized factory, inspected through strict Quality Checks and transported to the construction site using Heavy Cranes.
The result is an incredible underwater railway tunnel designed for high-speed train operations at up to 350 km/h.
This video explains the complete China tunnel construction process, from geological Survey and TBM excavation to concrete lining and the final High-Speed Train route.
Watch till the end to see how one of the world's most impressive underwater engineering projects was built.
