On May 13th, 1936 a team of climbers from Britain were attempting to summit Everest when one of the climbers, 37 year old Terence Compton disappeared from the group around 30 to 45 minutes after leaving camp 3. He was in the middle of the group but no one saw how or when he vanished. Terence was well known to always keep a small journal in the breast pocket of his vest where he wrote down meticulous notes every day, something he’d been doing for years. Each time he started a new journal he would change to a different color along with stamping the month and year inside the cover. 5 days after his disappearance the dark green journal he’d been writing in on the day he vanished mysteriously ended up on the doorstep of his family’s home in Yorkshire, England. The contents of the journal were proven to be his hand writing, baffling his family and friends for years. It was never released until 2017 when the last surviving family member died. Names have been changed at the request of the current owner of the journal. These are some excerpts of his writings days before he vanished and after. It’s been transcribed from the originals.
