Description

In the 1990s, Samuel “Ninety” Knowles ran cocaine by speedboat from Jamaica through Cuban waters to the Bahamas and Florida. On the wiretaps, his people called him “the General.” Then Washington came for him. For six years, he fought extradition from Nassau’s Fox Hill prison while supporters rallied in Rawson Square chanting “Free 90.” The government agreed he wouldn’t be sent away until every legal challenge was finished. In August 2006, with one hearing still on the calendar, he was flown to Miami. Built from court records and Bahamian press archives, this is the story of how the General ruled the sea, and how he lost everything.
