Description
Before you spend another dollar on window treatments, I want you to try one quick test: stand flat-footed at the window you use most and reach for the rod, cord, or wand exactly the way you would on an ordinary morning. If that reach feels hard today — or you suspect it will in ten years — this episode is for you.
I'm walking through four window treatments I'd avoid after sixty, and more importantly, what to hang instead:
🚫 Heavy drapes that steal your daylight
🚫 Rods and valances mounted out of comfortable reach
🚫 Blackout treatments that leak light at the edges
🚫 Blinds that fight reduced grip and mobility
The consequences are real: dark rooms that need lamps at noon, step stools where they should never be, and broken sleep from light gaps. I'll also share the one principle I use to judge any treatment, a simple three-step buying plan, and where to spend (and save) when you're on a budget. Stick around to the end for a free next step.
