Mangrol Crest Unveiled | Indian Navy ASW-SWC

The crest of Mangrol, the third Anti-Submarine Warfare Shallow Water Craft (ASW-SWC) built by Cochin Shipyard Limited (CSL), Kochi, is unveiled ahead of its commissioning into the Indian Navy on 12 October 2026 at Naval Dockyard, Mumbai. Named after the coastal town of Mangrol in Gujarat's Junagadh district, the ship carries forward the legacy of the erstwhile INS Mangrol (M85), which served the Indian Navy until 7 April 2004. Built with over 80% indigenous content, Mangrol reflects India's commitment to indigenous warship construction under the Make in India and Aatmanirbhar Bharat initiatives. Equipped with advanced sonar, lightweight torpedoes, an indigenous anti-submarine rocket launcher and the Maareech Advanced Torpedo Decoy System, the vessel will strengthen the Indian Navy's anti-submarine warfare capabilities in coastal and shallow waters.
