Description
For sixty years, a town in upstate New York was sure it knew who killed twelve-year-old Mary Theresa Simpson. It was wrong. The man who did it was never questioned, never suspected, and never named in thousands of pages of case files.
In this video we cover three murders that were written off as unsolvable: Elmira, New York in 1964. Universal City, Texas in 1981. Springfield, Massachusetts in 1995. Three states, three decades, and within the past year all three finally broke open.
One came down to 0.4 nanograms of DNA and a package stranded in an ice storm. One started with nothing but a surname, and a lab that chose to wait four years rather than risk its last sample. And one was solved because somebody finally tested a piece of clothing nobody had looked at in thirty-one years.
Two of the killers were already dead. The third was alive, and when detectives sat down across from him, he talked.
