The Undying Knight: Ashen Oath | He Became the Monster He Was Sent to Kill

A plague is turning the dead into monsters—but the infected are not the greatest threat to the kingdom. When the knight Duncan refuses to destroy a village of innocent civilians, Lord William brands him a traitor and uses him in a forbidden experiment. William has discovered that undead blood can force a dying body to survive in another form. Most subjects lose themselves, but the strongest retain their will and gain the power of the plague. William does not want to cure the kingdom. He wants to create an army with one mind, one command, and no ability to resist him. After escaping captivity, Duncan is rescued by an elf and taken to a hidden village where peaceful undead farm, build homes, and protect one another. Their existence proves that infection does not destroy humanity—but it also gives William the final weapon he needs. When the village is discovered, William sends his knights to capture the elf and transform Duncan. The experiment succeeds, but not in the way William expected. Duncan becomes undead without surrendering his mind. Now the knight once condemned as a monster must return to the fortress, rescue his teacher, and confront the man who destroyed the kingdom in the name of saving it. His body has changed. His oath has not.
