Description

Silver hit a 9-week low near $59 as Deutsche Bank declared scarcity over. We test the inventory numbers and China's leverage shutdown. Silver just fell below $60 an ounce, its lowest level in nine weeks and roughly half of its early-2026 peak above $121. At the same time, Deutsche Bank says peak silver scarcity is behind us, pointing to more than 914 million ounces in London vaults. But COMEX registered stocks, the silver actually deliverable in New York, sit near 101 million ounces. So which inventory number is telling the truth? In this investigation, we separate confirmed facts from speculation, compare London, New York, and Shanghai, and explain why most of the headline Shanghai silver premium is a 13% tax effect rather than a shortage signal. We also examine whether China's banks ending retail leveraged gold and silver trading, combined with the Golden Week market closure, helped push silver lower, or whether the timing is only an overlap. Along the way, we cover record Treasury yields, the Federal Reserve's rate hike, silver ETF outflows, and the questions no one has answered yet.
