Raúl Castro: The Man Behind Fidel’s Revolution | FULL DOC | SLICE WHO

Raúl Castro spent much of his life in the shadow of his older brother Fidel, yet the Cuban Revolution would be impossible to understand without him. A committed Marxist, guerrilla fighter and longtime head of Cuba’s armed forces, Raúl helped shape the military and political structure that sustained the revolutionary government for decades. From his early ties to Che Guevara and the Soviet Union to the Bay of Pigs, the Cuban Missile Crisis and the collapse of the USSR, the film traces his influence behind the scenes. When Fidel fell ill, Raúl eventually became president, introducing limited economic reforms and overseeing a historic rapprochement with the United States under Barack Obama.
