Description

📘 THE BOOK: "The Old Scout Way: Walt's Camping & Fishing Manual" (120 camp and fishing tricks) 📗 ALSO: "The Old Scout Way: Walt's Camp Cooking Manual" (60 tricks for cooking with no kitchen) Get one, or both in a bundle: https://waltscampingsecrets.com I spent thirty-five years as a scoutmaster drying out other people's boots, and in this video I show you the beeswax treatment we used on every pair in the troop, plus the two spots on your boot that are actually letting the water in. In this video: Why leather soaks: the fiber spaces that make a boot breathe are the same ones that fill with water Wax vs oil, and how half a can of mink oil permanently kills the support in a work boot Dubbin, WWI trench boots, and the 1921 and 1933 tins still sitting on the shelf today The 8-step method: clean, dry, warm to no more than 120°F, fingers not cloth, double at the welt and toe crease The honest limits: smooth leather only, never suede or nubuck or mesh, and what "waterproof for a year" really means The gear aisle replaced a tin that lasts a season with a spray can that gives you one to three weeks of wet wear. One of those has to be bought again. Safety notes: never dry wet boots at a fire, on a woodstove, on a heat vent or in a dryer, the leather shrinks and cracks. Do not heat leather past 120°F. Melt beeswax in a can standing in hot water, never over an open flame. And get your feet dry and warm at night, trench foot needs no frost and can start within 10 to 14 hours. How old are the boots by your back door? Tell me below, I read every comment. Subscribe for the skills they stopped teaching: https://www.youtube.com/@Waltcampingsecrets
