By the late 80s, IMSA GTP had become insane. Cars waged war armed with well over 1000 horsepower as the extreme engineering pushed cars and drivers to their absolute limits. Much like in Europe, the early years were dominated by Porsche’s all-conquering 962, but thanks to a monumental effort (and a ridiculous amount of boost), Nissan fought through the field to dethrone the German giant, carving themselves into the history books with a generational run of success.
