A black-backed jackal approaches four ostrich chicks feeding on an open African grassland. Their father reacts immediately, racing across the predator’s path and blocking every attempt to get closer. Fast evasions and powerful defensive kicks give three chicks time to reach cover, but the smallest is still exposed. The father intercepts another rush, protects the final chick’s escape, and drives the jackal away with one decisive counterattack. This AI-generated wildlife story is inspired by natural parental defense and is not footage of a recorded encounter.
