Why Do Deer Rub Their Antlers Against Trees? 🦌🌳 #shorts 📄 Professional Description Why do deer aggressively rub their antlers against trees until red marks start appearing? 🦌🌳 At first, it can look like the animal is angry or trying to destroy something. But there’s a completely different reason behind it. When a deer’s new antlers are growing, they’re covered in a soft layer called velvet. This velvet contains blood vessels that deliver nutrients and help the antlers grow quickly. Once the antlers are fully developed and begin hardening, the blood supply to the velvet stops. The velvet then dries out and starts dying, which can cause intense itching. That’s when the rubbing begins. 🌲 🦌 Trees and shrubs help remove the dried velvet 🩸 Blood vessels supported the antlers during growth 💪 The finished antlers become hard and ready for use So those red marks aren’t a sign of rage—they’re part of the natural process that leaves the deer with fully hardened antlers. 🏷️ #shorts #youtubeshorts #ytshorts #Deer #DeerAntlers #AntlerGrowth #AntlerVelvet #DeerBehavior #Wildlife #AnimalBehavior #NatureFacts #WildlifeFacts
