The Incredible History of the Calendar

Who invented the calendar? The answer is far more fascinating than you might expect. Thousands of years ago, humans had no January, February, Monday, or numbered dates. They looked to the Moon, the Sun, and the stars to understand the passage of time. In this documentary, we travel through thousands of years of history to discover how ancient civilizations developed ways to measure time. From the early lunar calendars of Mesopotamia, to the 365-day calendar of ancient Egypt, to Julius Caesar's Julian calendar, and finally the Gregorian calendar used by much of the world today. We also discover why calendars kept drifting away from the seasons—and how a tiny difference in the length of a year eventually led to one of the biggest calendar reforms in history. This is the story of how humanity turned the movement of the sky into the calendar we use every day. 🌙 Moon ☀️ Sun ⭐ Stars 🏺 Mesopotamia 🇪🇬 Ancient Egypt 🏛️ Rome 📜 Julian Calendar 📅 Gregorian Calendar If you enjoy history, ancient civilizations, mysteries, and educational documentaries, subscribe for more cinematic history stories. #History #Calendar #AncientHistory #HistoryDocumentary #AncientCivilizations #JuliusCaesar #GregorianCalendar #Mesopotamia #AncientEgypt #Time
