Description

In September 1980, just three months before his death, John Lennon sat down with Playboy magazine for his final major interview. Over three weeks, he went through the entire Beatles catalog song by song—revealing which tracks he loved, which ones he hated, and which still haunted him at 40. This isn't a list of the biggest Beatles hits. These are the songs John said were his favorites—in his own words. From "Help!" as a genuine cry for help during Beatlemania, to "Across the Universe" which he called his best lyric ever, to "In My Life" as his first real piece of work. He even praised Paul McCartney's "Here, There and Everywhere" as one of his all-time favorites. Raw, honest, and surprisingly tender—this is John Lennon reflecting on the music that defined a generation.
