From Lakshman of Akbarpur to Maharaj Ji, this Hindi film takes you on an emotional journey of devotion, renunciation, compassion, and dedication. Devotees of Neem Karoli Baba, also known as Neem Karori Baba, Neeb Karori Baba, and Maharaj Ji, consider him an incarnation of Hanuman. A simple blanket, a natural smile, and a warm embrace—these human aspects of Baba's life are what define him in this tale. The story begins with a mysterious night. Baba's suffering, the distress of a soldier on the Burma Front, and the blanket given to him to be immersed in the Ganges—these episodes pose a question for the viewer: Did Baba take upon himself the suffering of a devotee? The story then returns to his early life. Akbarpur village, the compassion of young Laxman, his renunciation from home, his spiritual practice, and his connection to the name of Ram reveal the journey of a saint for whom even feeding a hungry person was a service to God. The film also explores Baba's famous train incident. According to popular legend, Baba, traveling without a ticket, was removed from the train, but the train did not proceed. What happened when Baba was called back? This incident is considered one of the most famous events in the Neem Karoli Baba train story. The story progresses to the hills of Kainchi—the journey of local villager Puran, the old meditation cave, and the establishment of Kainchi Dham Ashram. The story of the transformation of water into ghee, told in the devotional tradition of Kainchi Dham, furthers this spirit of service and faith. Memoirs of Baba also include instances of his ability to discern the unspoken thoughts of the mind and understand the situation of devotees sitting far away. Along with these stories, the film reveals the affection that brought people to Maharaj Ji with their worries and sorrows. The journey from Richard Alpert to Ram Dass is also an emotional part of this story. The relationship between a curious Western seeker and an Indian saint spreads the teachings of love, service, and remembrance of God to other corners of the world. 🔸 In this film, you will see: The story of Baba's suffering, the soldier, and the mysterious blanket The journey from Akbarpur to Neem Karoli Baba The famous train stoppage incident The story of Puran, Sadhana Cave, and Kainchi Dham The devotee's story of water turning into ghee at a feast The popular foreboding incident involving Lal Bahadur Shastri Ram Das's transformation and Maharaj Ji's teachings Hanuman devotion, Ram's name, service, and dedication Steve Jobs and Mark Zuckerberg also figure in discussions about Baba's legacy and Kainchi Dham.
