How America REALLY Became a Superpower...

How did America become America and do so much America!? And why is he like he is now?? Was it intentional, or just random luck? Inquiring minds (you, me, China) want to know! Historians have a variety of opinions on America's rise to superpowerhoood- but most agree on a few key events and themes: In the late 19th century, U.S. businesses had investments in Cuba, which at the time was part of the crumbling Spanish Empire. When revolts caused instability in Cuba, America strolled on down and mopped the floor with Spain. This was the start of U.S. colonial antics. Where things really pick up is during World War I. The U.S. was neutral for a while, but sold a lot of guns to France and Britain. After collecting all that sweet sweet gun money, the U.S. entered the war, and was a decisive factor in ending it. But... BOOM. Great Depression. Hitler. World War II. Things got crazy, and after World War II nobody wanted any of that to happen again. So the world got together and developed the Bretton Woods System. The U.S. dollar became the global reserve currency, giving the U.S. a lot more power. Pair that with the creation of the World Bank, International Monetary Fund (IMF), and North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), and the U.S. kind of became the worlds financial advisor... and the world police. Of course, some countries, like the Soviet Union, China, were not so stoked on this...
