My Sister Announced She Was Taking My Apartment the Night I Signed the Lease… The apartment took me fourteen months to get. Not fourteen months of casual searching — fourteen months of spreadsheets, saved listings, missed opportunities, a credit check that came back clean after two years of methodical repair work, and a property manager named Dennis who called me on a Tuesday afternoon and said the unit was mine if I could sign by Friday. I signed Thursday morning. I sat in my car in the parking garage afterward with the lease folder on my lap and just breathed for a moment, because that's what you do when something you worked for quietly and without witnesses finally becomes real. #revenge #revengestories #familydramas
