Description

Every week the trash truck hauls away a greenhouse, a watering system, a seed-starting nursery and a pile of plant ties, and you paid for all of it once already. The milk jug, the plastic bottles, the tin cans, the egg carton, the old t-shirt, the cracked bucket. On our farm, none of it ever left. Every one had a job, most of them in my mother's garden, and every one does that job as well as the thing the garden store sells you. Plus the drainage myth almost every gardener was taught, and why my mother never put a rock in a pot. This week, before trash day, rescue three things.
