Description
For fifteen years ER was the most expensive hour on American television, and I have spent weeks working out where all that money actually went. Not the network's money. The cast's.
I go through the main cast one by one: what each of them was worth before they walked into County General, what they were paid on day one, what they were paid on their last day, what the reruns have quietly added since, and what is left of the lot of it today.
Some of these people held onto it. Most of them did not, and the reasons are a lot stranger than you would guess.

10:30 - Maura Tierney

Everything here is built from contemporary trade reporting, the contract terms that made it into print at the time, interviews the cast gave while the deals were live, the syndication and licence-fee deals the studio signed, and the net worth estimates the financial press publishes today.
Where a figure has never been reported, I say so and estimate it from comparable deals rather than pretend it exists. What I am trying to establish is simple: a show can be the biggest thing on television and still leave most of the people in it looking at a fairly ordinary bank balance twenty years later.
🩺 WHAT YOU'LL SEE
- ER cast salaries per episode, season by season
- How the pay evolved from the pilot to the final episode
- The record network licence fee and what it did to everyone's contract
- Who negotiated hard, who walked out, and who never asked
- The syndication deal, and who saw a penny of it
- ER cast residuals and how rerun money actually works
- The behind-the-scenes fights, firings and departures
- ER cast net worth before the show, during it, and today
- What happened to the money after the cameras stopped
- Where each of them ended up, and who came out of it richest
💰 QUESTIONS THIS VIDEO ANSWERS
- How much did the cast of ER get paid per episode?
- Who was the highest-paid actor on ER, and was it who you think?
- Why did the biggest names walk away from a hit that still had years left in it?
- Do the ER cast still get paid for reruns today?
- What is the cast of ER worth now, and how far is that from what they earned?
- Which of them turned down the most money, and did it work out?
This channel is about one thing: the real money behind the shows you grew up on, told properly, with the arithmetic actually done. If that is your sort of thing, subscribe, it costs you nothing and it keeps this going. And tell me in the comments which of this cast you think came out of ER richest, because almost nobody gets it right first time.
