Description
China wanted high-speed trains capable of traveling at around 300 km/h — but much of the country is covered by mountains, deep valleys, rivers, unstable slopes, and difficult terrain.
Instead of simply following the landscape, engineers changed the route itself.
They cut through mountains, built massive viaducts across valleys, and pushed high-speed railway tunnels deep underground. The result is a railway system designed to maintain smooth gradients, precise alignment, and high-speed operation across some of China's most challenging terrain.
In this documentary, discover how China engineered high-speed rail through mountains using massive tunnels, bridges, viaducts, advanced geological investigation, and precision track systems.
From the Qin and Daba Mountains to enormous valley crossings, this is the engineering behind China's mountain high-speed railway network.
