Description
THIS DINOSAUR DIED PRACTICALLY YESTERDAY
Imagine finding a dinosaur over 100 million years old, and instead of finding just a bunch of scattered bones, you come face to face with skin, scales, feathers, organs, food in your stomach, and even a baby still wrapped inside the egg. It seems like an exaggeration of
movie, but it's not. There are fossils so absurdly preserved that the first reaction is to look and think: “it is not possible that this animal died before humanity existed”.
Because normally, when we talk about fossils, the image that comes to mind is that dry museum skeleton. But some animals were lucky —or unlucky, depending on your point of view— to die in the perfect place, at the perfect time, and be buried the perfect way.
Today you will see 9 animals and finds so well preserved that they appear to have died yesterday. So already leave the like, because this list here doesn't look like paleontology. Looks like Cretaceous forensics.
1- BOREALOPELTA
To open this list, there was no way it could be anyone else. The Borealopelta markmitchelli is that kind of fossil that makes any museum look and talk: “my friend, this is not normal”. He was a battleship dinosaur, related to ankylosaurs, but without that famous club at the tip of his tail. And when it was found in Canada, in an Alberta tar sands mine, the business didn't just look like a skeleton. It looked like a fossilized animal in 3D, with the armor still stuck to its body, as if the animal had laid down, turned to stone and said: “there, expose me in the museum in 110 million years”.
