Description
In this video, I take you through every major type of solar system — from newborn systems still forming inside enormous disks of gas and dust, to familiar single-star systems like our own, planets orbiting two suns at once, and chaotic systems containing three stars pulling everything around them.
We’ll explore tightly packed systems where planets are squeezed into incredibly small spaces, resonant systems where planetary orbits lock together like clockwork, eccentric systems with wildly stretched orbits, and misaligned systems where planets orbit at completely different angles.
Then things get even stranger. We’ll look at planetary systems surviving around dying stars, white dwarfs and pulsars, rogue systems wandering through interstellar space, and even the possibility of advanced civilizations completely rearranging their own solar systems.
