The New Sense & Sensibility SURPRISED Me

Last week, for me at least anyway, a new Sense & Sensibility adaptation released, and so of course I went to see it. If you’ve been following me for a while, you might be aware that one of my favourite genres/premises of film and tv are period dramas. I grew up watching them because of my parents own interest, and now I’m probably the one most keen on them. There’s something about being taken to a different time, and romanticising it. That’s what we’re all here for really at the end of the day. To romanticise the idea of living within extravagant houses and dressing extremely well. So, when a new adaptation comes forth, there’s going to be some heat because people are extremely against trying to one up a film or show they already hold most dear. Or some, like me, aren’t particularly happy when you can’t clearly see what’s going on because apparently all the lighting technicians have left Hollywood in the last 10 years. I thought seeing the trailers that I wasn’t going to be happy with this. Thankfully curiosity got the better of me, and I was proven wrong! Mostly. Today, I want to dive into the new Sense and Sensibility and tell you why you shouldn’t judge a movie by it’s terrible lighting. Enjoy.
