"Jefferson and Liberty" - American Jeffersonian Song

"Jefferson and Liberty" is an American political song written in 1801 to celebrate the election of Thomas Jefferson and the victory of the Democratic Republican Party after the election of 1800. The most popular version was written by Alexander Wilson, although multiple songs with the same title were composed during that period. The song was made to praise Jefferson's victory and criticize the outgoing Federalist administration, particularly policies such as the Alien and Sedition Acts. It quickly became one of the best known political songs of the early American republic and even became a march played most notably during the civil war.
