The Pope, The Poison, and The Martyrs

You asked for it directly in the comments here’s the full Masonic letter, word for word. Last episode, some of you guessed this was “The Permanent Instruction of Alta Vendita.” Close, but not quite, the author of this letter actually refers to the Alta Vendita as his own lodge, meaning he was a member writing to a fellow conspirator, not the author of that document. Full citation: Biographical Memoirs of St. John Bosco (Memorie Biografiche), Vol. II, Chapter I, “Freemasonry in Piedmont in 1841.” Don Bosco’s biographer, Fr. Lemoyne, sources the letter itself to Civiltà Cattolica, 1875, Series IX, Vol. VII, p. 329, and to Crétineau-Joly’s L’Église Romaine en face de la révolution, Vol. II, p. 85. The translation you’ll hear is our own, drawn from the public-domain 1901 Italian edition Episode 560 _____________________________ Don't Miss Our NEW Monthly Promoter Program!
