Description
Heinrich Müller was one of the most influential figures in Nazi Germany's security apparatus and the man who led the Gestapo, the regime's secret police, during the Second World War. A career police officer rather than an early Nazi activist, Müller built a reputation for efficiency and discipline before rising rapidly through the ranks under Reinhard Heydrich. As head of the Gestapo, he became a central figure in the Nazi system of surveillance, repression, and persecution. During the war, Müller played a role in some of the Third Reich's most significant operations. He was involved in Operation Himmler, the series of staged incidents used to justify the German invasion of Poland, and later supervised the Gestapo within the Reich Security Main Office (RSHA). Following the launch of Operation Barbarossa in June 1941, he received reports from the Einsatzgruppen and oversaw key aspects of the security machinery operating behind the advancing German army. He also attended the Wannsee Conference in January 1942, where senior officials coordinated the implementation of what the Nazi regime called the "Final Solution." Throughout the war, Müller worked closely with figures including Reinhard Heydrich, Heinrich Himmler, and Adolf Eichmann, becoming one of the most powerful officials in the Nazi state. As the Third Reich collapsed in 1945, Müller remained inside Berlin alongside Adolf Hitler's inner circle. Unlike many leading Nazi officials, however, he disappeared during the final days of the war. Numerous theories have attempted to explain his fate, suggesting he died during the Battle of Berlin or was taken into Soviet custody, but no definitive evidence has ever resolved the mystery. His disappearance remains one of the most enduring unanswered questions surrounding the end of Nazi Germany.
This documentary explores Heinrich Müller's life, his rise to head of the Gestapo, his involvement in Nazi Germany's security system, Operation Himmler, Operation Barbarossa, the Ei
