NEPAL FLOOD DISASTER WORSENS! Homes Swept Away as Bridges Collapse (Latest Updates)

A devastating flash flood swept through Nepal’s Gorkha district on October 11, 2026, destroying homes, damaging bridges, and disrupting vital infrastructure along the Budhi Gandaki River valley. The disaster reportedly followed a landslide that blocked a mountain stream, potentially creating a temporary dam before floodwaters surged downstream. Rescue teams have been working to reach affected communities, while authorities assess the damage and search for people reported missing. In this report, we examine the possible cause of the sudden flood, the destruction across mountain communities, and the challenges facing rescue operations. We also explore why Nepal’s steep valleys are particularly vulnerable to cascading disasters involving landslides and powerful floodwaters. The full extent of the damage remains uncertain as recovery efforts continue.
