On July 18, 2014, Dan Markel was shot in the garage of his Tallahassee home and died the next day. It was a murder-for-hire that grew out of the bitter custody battle following his divorce from Wendi. Over the years since, five people have been convicted, including Wendi's brother Charlie Adelson and her mother Donna Adelson.
