Look Up! A Rare Alignment of Planets Is Taking Place Right Now

Six planets and hundreds of shooting stars will be visible on the same night. Here’s exactly when and where to look. On the night of August 12–13, 2026, the Perseid meteor shower peaks under a New Moon, meaning no moonlight to wash out the sky. Under genuinely dark conditions you could see up to 100 meteors per hour. Then, in the hours before sunrise, six planets — Jupiter, Mercury, Mars, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune — stretch in a long arc across the eastern sky.
