Description

🌊 A record river crest and widespread flooding have hit parts of West Texas after days of severe storms and heavy rainfall, leaving flooded roads, storm damage, and rapidly changing river conditions across the Rolling Plains. In this video, I break down the Middle Wichita River’s record crest of 18.91 feet at the Guthrie 19 Northeast monitoring site, along with rainfall totals and the impacts reported across the region. Importantly, this record applies specifically to that monitoring location rather than the entire Wichita River. ⛈️ I also cover flooded roads, large hail, storm damage, and the 81 mph wind gust measured near Turkey as powerful thunderstorms moved across West Texas. The report examines the Wichita River and the latest outlooks for Beaver Creek near Electra and the Red River near Burkburnett, including where additional flooding could become a concern as water continues moving through the river system. Finally, I review National Weather Service flood safety guidance and the latest information on river levels, warnings, road conditions, and ongoing impacts across the Rolling Plains.
