Description

It's often easier to depend on God when life is difficult. But when things begin going well, success can quietly tempt us to believe, “I did this by my own strength.” In Deuteronomy 8:17–18, God warned Israel against saying that their own power and strength had produced their wealth. Instead, they were commanded to remember the Lord, who gives the ability to produce it. Hard work matters. Discipline matters. Wisdom matters. But even our ability to work, the opportunities available to us, and the resources we receive should never become reasons to forget God. Success can become spiritually dangerous when gratitude turns into self-sufficiency. When God allows you to prosper, don't respond by needing Him less. Let success make you more grateful—not more self-reliant.
